Cat Supplies Buying Guide: Comfort, Climbing and Play
The HT Buying Guides · Updated October 1, 2026
Build around what your cat already does: hide, climb, scratch, rest and play. A premium cat home is not defined by the tallest tower or the most accessories. It gives each cat comfortable choices and makes everyday care easier for you.

Match the purchase to the behavior
| Your cat prefers | Look for | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Looking down from a perch | Cat Trees & Scratchers | Perch dimensions, stable base and access route |
| Quiet covered naps | Cozy Cat Beds | Interior space, opening and cleaning access |
| Scratching after rest | Cat Trees & Scratchers | A stable surface with room to stretch |
| Short bursts of play | Cat Toys | Size, loose parts and supervised use |
| A familiar travel space | Stylish Pet Carriers | Interior dimensions, secure closures and ventilation |
Plan for your household, not an average cat
A kitten needs accessible steps and close supervision. A large adult needs room to turn and settle on a perch. An older cat may appreciate lower routes and easy entry. In a multi-cat household, spread resting spots and other resources across the home so one confident cat cannot control everything.
The Feline Veterinary Medical Association’s environmental guidance supports safe places and separate essential resources. APPA’s 2026 Cat Report release also highlights growing multi-cat ownership and selective premium spending. For shoppers, the useful takeaway is to choose furniture and enrichment for the actual cats using them.
Compare current furniture options
Armarkat B6802 Classic Cat Tree offers six levels, a condo and two perches. Its listing specifies a 68-inch height, 22-by-22-inch base and 14-by-14-inch perches. Those numbers help you evaluate room fit and resting space; the listed total weight capacity does not tell you whether an individual perch suits your cat.
Queens Kastle Luxury Cat Tower has a 20-by-22-inch base, 41-inch height, sisal scratching area and removable roof for cleaning. It is a different proposition: a covered retreat and compact vertical space. Choose by layout and habits rather than assuming the larger structure is always better.
For play, Pawty Mini Donald catnip toy is a novelty plush option for cats that respond to catnip. A toy complements daily interaction; it does not replace it.
Before you order
- Measure the floor area and overhead clearance.
- Check the bed or perch size against your cat’s resting posture.
- Read assembly, care and replacement-part information in the listing.
- Decide where the item will go. A quiet retreat should have a different role from an active play area.
- Review the selected variant, current availability and shipping terms.
Build one useful corner first
Start with a stable scratcher or resting place near an area your cat already enjoys. Introduce the new item gradually. If your cat ignores it, reconsider placement and texture before purchasing another version. Read How to Choose a Cat Bed and Cat Enrichment at Home for the next decision, then browse Cat Supplies.
Questions before you buy
Is a tall cat tree always better?
No. Perch size, stability and an accessible route matter more than height alone.
Can a dog collar be used as a daily cat collar?
Do not assume it can. For unsupervised everyday cat wear, choose a purpose-designed breakaway cat collar and verify the release feature in its listing.
